This scholarship was established by Aunrée J. Houston ’00 to provide perpetual support for undergraduate SCMA students with demonstrated financial need – who are involved in the Black Student Union, ALANA, The School of Business Pitch It” Challenge, and SUNY Oswego Pride Alliance. SUNY Oswego provided Aunrée with multiple opportunities and platforms to explore his creativity and professional skills. He would like to pay that sentiment forward with this award.
To qualify for this award, a student must:
• Be currently enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours minimum). Preference will be given to a student in the School of Communications, Media and the Arts.
• Be a member of the Black Student Union and/or ALANA.
• Have documented financial need.
• Submit a presentation detailing, a life challenge and how they overcame, how they exercise resilience, and how will their work contribute to diversity, equity and inclusion. The presentation must be creative format (i.e. short film/documentary, blog (with visuals), vlog, personal website homepage, dossier/magazine with images, etc.)
